Curriculum Information

Our day begins at 8:45am with a calm start, where children read, complete quizzes or finish classwork. Mornings focus on core subjects, with daily lessons in either phonics or reading for thirty minutes, followed by writing and maths for one hour each.

In the afternoons, foundation subjects are taught. Each half-term, the class studies either history or geography, alongside either art or DT. Please see the half-term overview on the Year 2 page for more details.

Children have two PE sessions each week, one taught by the class teacher and one by specialist coaches from Premier. Once a year, the class will have forest school for one afternoon a week for half a term.

Children also have opportunities to take part in lunchtime and after-school clubs, with free teacher-run clubs including drawing club, yoga club and newspaper club.

Homework is given out on a Friday and due back on a Wednesday. Spellings and Cracking number or times tables are set each week. There is also additional work linked to grammar or topic which changes weekly. Spelling and 'Cracking number' or times-tables tests take place at the end of the week.
